Deer List (Updated)

Postby Father-of-Five on Mon Oct 18, 2004 5:49 pm

This is going to sound REALLY wierd......but here goes...

Here at the police department, I maintain the "Deer List"

As a hunter who appreciates animals (yeah, ok that sounds contradictory but its the truth..) I hate to see animals go to waste. We get numerous calls throughout the fall/winter/spring (when its still cold enough) about car vs deer accidents, where the deer is injured or freshly killed.

We have a list of people who are happy to take the deer, and use it for the venison, and hides for humanity, etc...

Anyway I was just updating the list for the 2004-2005 season, and thought of my friends here on the Cafe...

If there are any of you that would be interested (or know of anyone who would) in being included on such a list, please get in touch with me - here or at my work email address....

dmelin@ci.bloomington.mn.us

Thanks!

David

Doesn't sound weird to me at all.

Can I get on the wolf-kill list?

I'll take a fox. - - - Wait, at my age I don't think I could handle a Fox. :D
I would like a little Venison if someone wants to split one.

It's that time again...

And since we have new members on the Cafe (and it's been two years), I thought I would pose this question to y'all again.

Anyone want to, or know anyone who would want to be added to the Police Department's 2006/2007 "Deer List"?

A list of people who would be willing to take a recently deceased deer that (determined by one of Bloomington's Finest) is in good enough shape to salvage for venison

Feel free to post here, or if you are not comfortable with that, you can call Bloomington PD (952) 563-4900 and ask for David in Dispatch.

Thanks again everyone!

Dave, thanks for your work on the list. I like venicon, but have never cleaned a deer.

My wife hit one a few weeks ago on 90th between Penn and France on her way to work. All the sudden, it was in the headlights. It was dark, but she thinks it tried to get to the side of the street...she maybe broke it back leg(s)? I don't know if it was ever found but I was going to call Mark and see if he knew anything. I presume it couldn't have gotten far.

Now I need to straighten out the bent corner on the front of the hood. Thankfully that's all it did to the car.
