Bloomington Police don't buy motorist's explanation
Bloomington Police had a hard time accepting an Eden Prairie woman's explanation of a traffic mishap at Denny's restaurant.
The 54-year-old driver told Bloomington officers that she had simply been unable to stop her car from sliding into the side of the restaurant at 1200 W. 98th St.
"I was going through the drive-through and I got stuck in a snow bank," she told officers, according to reports filed later.
The problem is that this particular Denny's has no drive-through feature, noted Commander Kevin Herman, spokesman for Bloomington Police. The woman became upset when this was pointed out to her, Herman said.
The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. Jan. 5.
The woman denied having consumed any alcohol but refused to answer when officers asked if she'd taken any prescription medication.
She failed field sobriety tests but refused to submit to blood alcohol testing once officers took her to the Bloomington Police jail, according to Herman.
"That will probably mean even more trouble for her," he said. The case was to be forwarded to the City Attorney's office for possible charges.
Following standard practice, the woman was later released to the company of a sober adult.
